In addition to the theatre experience, QPAC provides a range of materials and events encouraging greater understanding and enjoyment of the live arts. Learning and engagement opportunities will enrich the in-theatre experience for all patrons, and support formal learning contexts for students.
KITE Arts Education Program @ QPAC
KITE program at QPAC is an early childhood arts education initiative of Education Queensland in partnership with Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). KITE delivers relevant contemporary arts education experiences for Prep to Year 3 students and their teachers across Queensland.
We believe: • Children thrive when given access to a creative life. • Schools succeed in multiple ways when teachers, students and families become part of the arts and cultural participation. • Arts education experiences in early childhood are of particular significance as they have the power to impact positively on brain development. • Arts education programs in schools are of particular benefit to under-resourced communities. • Ongoing conversations with households, teachers and students provoke new thinking and practices in early phase arts delivery.
To achieve our vision, we Engage, Participate and Enable by creating and facilitating: • Performances • Participative art projects • Professional development services • Partnerships

QPAC's Out of the Box Festival for 3 to 8 year olds at the Cultural Centre
A QPAC initiative, Out of the Box is Australia's leading early childhood arts and cultural festival and, in collaboration with early childhood teachers, artists and researchers, has been developing extraordinary arts experiences for children since 1992. Approximately 46,500 children, parents, teachers and families attended the 2008 Festival, which for the first time extended across the Cultural Centre.
Out of the Box will return in mid-2010, with a new program of free and ticketed performances, workshops, exhibitions and creative spaces especially designed for 3 to 8 year olds.
